Work on an unreleased game, releasing in May 2026. Concepts below are for the game enemies and the game's main character,
which were then turned into 3D models. The transition into 3D was taken into account in the designs.
The game is about mining microplastics, and the main character is the boss of the mine. The enemies are beasts made out of plastic.
The main character has three stages as he degrades and becomes more of a plastic monster himself.
Plastic beasts are enemies who attack the miners players control. I did a lot of ideation for them, and we landed on two designs.
One was inspired by caterpillars, and one was inspired by sea slugs. Both are made of the same hard plastic material that fits with
the game's microplastics theme. The slug also has melted plastic patterns across its body. In addition to ideation and turnarounds,
I also experimented with concepts for how they would move in the game, as you can see here with the attack concept.
The boss is the main character of the game and directs the player. As the game progresses, he goes through three stages.
The first is a cute and approachable business man, the second starts oozing, becomes more plastic-y, and is overall more unhinged.
The third stage is for the very end of the game and turns the boss into more of an eldritch horror. Each stage went through iterations
to further push the design and silhouette. I also did exploration on what the expressions for the boss at each stage would be,
stage one of which is shown here.
